Agnes C. Fredrickson

Agnes C. Fredrickson, 90, of Creston died Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Greater Regional Medical Center, Creston, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial Services will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 5, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Creston. Father Ken Halbur, Jr. will officiate. Following Mass, Agnes’ body will be cremated and her cremated remains will be buried at Calvary Cemetery at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 6. Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston, is in charge of arrangements. Open Visitation will be from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 4. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday evening. Family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Holy Spirit Catholic Church and/or St. Malachy School. Agnes Christina Fredrickson, the daughter of Louis and Ida Rose (Weis) Waske, was born on April 6, 1922 in Talmage, Iowa (east of Afton). Agnes graduated from Thayer High School with the Class of 1938. On February 28, 1949, she married Marshel Dean Fredrickson at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Afton.
Agnes worked as a seamstress with Mabel Ahern for many years above the Woolworth Store. After that she started working full time as a clerk at Office Machines. Agnes worked as a bookkeeper and receptionist for the Hair House for twenty-two years and retired eleven years ago.
Agnes was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was active in the Council of Catholic Women and helped at many church funeral dinners. Agnes was a Den Mother for both the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts and was a Member of Lakeshore Golf and Country Club.
Left to cherish Agnes’ memory are her husband, Marshel Fredrickson, Creston; her daughter, Connie Fredrickson, Creston; her two sons: David Fredrickson and significant other, Donna Brickert, Polk City, Iowa; and John Fredrickson, Afton; her four grandchildren: Andy Konkler; Matt Fredrickson; Caleb Fredrickson; and Elaina Fredrickson; her four great-grandchildren; her sister, Pauline Hayes, Topeka, Kansas; her sister-in-law, Joan Waske, Afton; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Agnes in death were her parents; her two brothers, Jo and Albert Waske; her brother-in-law, Harry Hayes; and three sisters: Kathryn Dunn; Hilda Seeley; and Helen Ostergaard.
