Alice Anderson

June 15, 1902 — November 29, 2007

Interment will be at the Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Theodore J. Martens Post #1797.
Alice May Anderson was born June 15, 1902 to J. Edgar and Mabel (Priddy) Foster. Alice entered eternal rest on November 29, 2007, at the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa, at the age of one hundred and five years; five months, and sixteen days.
Alice grew up in the Greenfield area. She attended country school.
Alice married Elmer G. Anderson on February 21st, 1922. To this union three children were born.
Alices first job was at the creamery in Creston for several years. Alice worked part time at the Chicken Inn and full time at Gits Manufacturing. She retired in 1982 at the age of eighty.
Alice enjoyed her family, her yard and flower beds and could grow anything. Alice and Elmer loved to go dancing and host card club on Saturday nights. She played cards about every day at the meal site with friends and taught her children and grandchildren to play. Sometimes we actually won a hand.
Alice was a life-long member of the V.F.W. Womens Auxiliary until it disbanded. Alice was a long-time member of the First Christian Church of Creston.
Alice would tell many stories to us about her life and there was over a century worth of them. What an exciting 105 years it must have been living from horse and carriage years to space flight.
Left to mourn Alices passing are her sons: Kenneth (wife Jeane) Anderson of Bonita, CA and Clifford Anderson (special friend Martha) of Osceola, IA; Seven Grandchildren: Beth (husband Glen) Sievers; Dean Anderson (and fiance Sandi); Tom (wife Connie) Anderson; Lori (husband Robert) Westcott; Kyla Wood; Gary Anderson; and Karen (husband Rich) Orr; eleven great-grandchildren; and thirteen great-great grandchildren.
Preceding Alice in death were her parents; husband Elmer in 1965; an infant son; two brothers: Elmer (and wife Rose) Foster and Clifford (and wife Eva) Foster; and one sister, Grace (and husband Floyd) Bennett.
