Angela Madden

September 26, 1946 — March 2, 2020

Angela Sue Madden was taken home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 2, 2020.
Angela was born in Creston, September 26, 1946, to Daisy L. (Fisher) and Curtis B. Alumbaugh. She graduated from Creston High School in 1964 and worked for a year as a telephone operator. Angela was united in marriage to Wayne Madden September 9, 1965, in Maryville, Missouri. This was the happiest moment in her life as she had a crush on him since she was four years old.
The second happiest moment of her life was October 4, 1981, the day she attributed to being born again. From then on, she was on fire to spread the Word of God. Because of her faith, she was constantly called upon to pray for people, either she knew or she didn’t. She didn’t question the reason, she just prayed. Her prayers undeniably kept her husband, children and grandchildren safe. Her unwavering faith helped lead many people to the Lord. She felt this was her greatest purpose.
She worked for a year at Gits manufacturing. From 1978 to 1981, she worked as a fitness instructor at the New Image, where she helped inspire confidence and self-esteem. From 1983 to 1988, she proudly worked at Spurgeon’s department store where she loved visiting with her co-workers and helping customers find the perfect outfit or gift. Sadly, she was stricken with a disease that began stealing her sight and she could no longer work. She underwent multiple surgeries to try to preserve her sight and she was able to see all of her grandchildren.
She was known for her elegant sense of style and class, always the quintessential lady. Always a huge fan of Elvis, his music was her favorite to dance to. She had a tremendous talent for dancing, even winning contests in her younger days. She loved cooking delicious meals and was gifted at crafts and decorating. As a member of the Eagles, she loved bowling with her mom and siblings. She spent years passionately involved in politics. Her pure love of animals and their wellbeing was her last active hobby. Always asking about everyone’s’ pets and insisting upon donating to charities to help animals. C.A.R.E., being the closest to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her brother Curtis Lee, both parents and her nephews: Jeff, Kasen and Brandon.
Angela is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Wayne. Her three children: Debra (husband Mitch) Sorensen, Curtis and Diana, all of Creston; grandchildren: Chelsea Sorensen, an Engagement Specialist at Crossroads BHS (fiancé Chris Tibbals), Angela Sorensen, a Senior at NYU, Ethan Madden, a Sophmore at Simpson. A great-grandson Joel Sorensen, always referred to as her little miracle baby; her siblings: Maxine (Husband Dave) Davenport of Creston, Jane Abell of Huntsville, Alabama, Larry Alumbaugh of Maryville, Missouri, Janet (husband Brian) Hudson of Orient, brother-in-law Duane (wife Marion) Madden of Fairbolt, Minnesota. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a life-long best friend, Linda Johnson of Creston Iowa.
A small private service with Pastor Jim McCutchan was held on March 5, 2020, at Graceland Cemetery Chapel. Any memorials, as she requested, will be donated to C.A.R.E.
On this day, Wayne gave his angel back to God.
