Armond T. Travis

March 2, 1912 — January 19, 2006

Armond Thomas Travis, son of Henry G. and Juanita Ralston OConner, was born March 2, 1912 in Trenton, Missouri and passed away January 19, 2006, at the age of ninety-three years, ten months, and nineteen days. He grew up in and around Holdrege, Nebraska and attended rural schools around Reagon, Nebraska.
On February 12, 1934, Armond was united in marriage with Lorene Kling Carlson at Red Oak, Iowa. Three children were born to this union. Armond worked for the railroad for 5 to 6 years. In 1938 Armond and Lorene bought a farm nine miles east of Corning where they lived for 52 years and reared their children, Henry Gilbert “Bud”, Carol, and Dennis. Fifty-seven years of marriage is testimony of Armonds belief in his family and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lorene in January, 1992, son Henry Gilbert “Bud”, brother Gilbert Travis, sister Helen Turner, brothers-in-law, Carl Carlson, Oscar Turner, Harry Kirk and sister-in-law, Gladys Travis.
Armond is survived by 2 children: Carol Cooney and husband Weldon of Corning, Dennis Travis and wife Connie of Denison; 6 grandchildren: Tim Cooney and wife Kim of Corning, Randy Cooney and wife Sherri of Des Moines, Tammy Newton and husband Greg of Norwalk, Franklin Travis and wife Darlene of Sioux City, Benjamin Travis and wife Samantha of Dubuque, Jonathan Travis and wife Kelly of San Francisco, California; 4 great-grandchildren, Dakota and Spencer Cooney of Des Moines, Isabel and Sophia Travis of Dubuque, sister Alice Spickard of Lenexa, Kansas, half-sisters Cleo Fudge and husband Boyd, Joann Walston and husband Elmer all of Phoenix, Arizona, sister-in-law Margaret Carlson of Omaha, and several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn for him.
