Bertha Mae Allen Dick was born April 14, 1922 in Rockport, Missouri: the daughter of Robert M. and Verna Mae (Timmons) Allen. The family lived in Missouri and later moved to West Township of Montgomery County.
She married Russell O. McMichael of Red Oak, Iowa in 1939. Three children were born to this union. In 1957 she married Alva C. Kempton of Tabor, Iowa and to this union, one child was born. In 1968, she married John S. Dick (Jack) of Carbon, Iowa.
She worked at the Thomas D. Murphy Co., and then went to work for Union Carbide in Red Oak, Iowa for over 30 years.
Bertha Mae loved the Carbon, Corning area, where she volunteered at the hospital cafeteria and the Senior Citizen Center. Since 1947, Bertha Mae has been a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Carbon, Iowa. She was also instrumental in the building of the Womens Aid Hall in Carbon.
Bertha Mae loved playing pitch, bingo and going to auctions.
Survivors include, Daughters: Karen (husband Fred) Miller, Sidney, Iowa; Sandra (husband Harold) Hedstrom, Villisca, Iowa, Sons: William (wife LaVeria) McMichael, Kaukauna, Wisconsin; Michael Kempton, Carbon, Iowa, Brothers: Carol “Bud” (wife Jewel) Allen, Wyoming; Donald (wife) Joan Allen, Red Oak, Iowa; Kenneth Allen, Elkhorn, Iowa, Sister: Ruth (husband Wayne) Echternauch, Stanton, Iowa, Daughter-In-Law: Nancy Kempton,Corning, Iowa, Sister-In-Law: Eydie Allen, Elliott, Iowa, Eight Grandchildren, Five Great Grandchildren, Six Great-Great Grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Bertha Mae was preceded in death by her: Parents, Husband: Jack Dick in 1998, Brothers: Robert and Charles Allen, Sister: Helen McClain, Brother and Sister: Floyd and Pauline, who died in infancy.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Carbon, Iowa, Adams County.
