Betty Jane Brown, the daughter of Wayne and Adrian (Wyckoff) Carr, was born May 6, 1922, in Cincinnati, Iowa. Betty entered eternal rest on May 6, 2010, at Greater Regional Hospice Home, in Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-eight years.
Betty graduated from Cincinnati High School with the Class of 1938. She received a degree in Institutional Food Management from Iowa State University in 1942.
On November 2, 1942, she married Stanley Meacham Stub Brown. Stub passed away on November 14, 1993. Betty has lived in Creston since December 1964, and worked as a licensed broker for Moberg Realty in Creston for many years. Betty retired shortly after the death of her husband.
Betty was a 4th generation P.E.O. and Sister of Chapter LG in Creston. Betty was active in many civic and political activities including President of the Creston United Fund Campaign, President of the Republican Womens Club of Union County; President of the Iowa Federation of Republican Women in 1984-1985 and served on the Creston City Council from 1998-2001.
Left to cherish Bettys memory are her children: Sally (Jerry) Mayeux, Deming, New Mexico; Linda Johnson, Urbandale, Iowa; and Charles (Jan) Brown, Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding Betty in death were her parents, and her husband.
