Beverly E. Horton

No visitation planned. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
A luncheon will be held at 12:00 PM at the Parish Center in Corning prior to the graveside service. Light refreshments will be served at the Templeton residence following the graveside service.
Memorials may be directed to the Companion Animal Fund at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, 1600 S 16th Street, Ames, IA 50011-1250
Beverly Horton, the daughter of Mervin and Helen (Hansen) Horton, was born on November 28, 1950, at Des Moines, Iowa. Beverly entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 3, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of fifty-eight.
Beverly graduated from Corning High School in 1969. Beverly was the first woman to graduate college out of a high school class of 83 people.Beverly graduated from the University of Iowa in Iowa City in 1973 with a B.A. in social work.
Beverly married Joseph Gauthier on December 29, 1989 in Marin County, California in Jerry Garcias backyard. Beverly loved animals and worked as a supervisor for the Iowa City Animal Control for twenty years. She was also a member of the Optimist Club of Iowa City and earned a Master Gardener degree from Iowa State University.
Left to cherish Beverlys memory is her husband, Joseph, sister; Julie Hansen Jentzsch of Denver, CO; niece Ashley (Aaron) Robertshaw, PA, and sister Bobbi (Burt) McCord, of Oregon; the Stargell and Templeton families of Corning, and other relatives and friends.
Preceding Beverly in death were her grandparents and parents Mervin and Helen.
