Brandy Jo Harms, wife of Doug, mother of Tyler and daughter of Russ and Joan Chamberlain, was born November 14, 1978, in Harlan, Iowa. From the first day of her young life she brought joy and light to everyone. Brandy entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the age of twenty-nine years, six months and twenty-eight days.
Brandy attended Harlan Community Schools and graduated with the class of 1997. She attended IWCC in Council Bluffs and earned her Associates Degree.
Dancing was one of her passions and she started lessons at age five. Brandy was involved in cheerleading, pom, dance and baton twirling throughout her high school career. She loved it so much that she would spin and shake in front of the T.V. screen when her brothers were watching it.
Brandy was very competitive. She loved playing all kinds of games whether it was board games, cards or croquet with her family. She grew up with three brothers which fueled her competitive nature. She never failed to entice her grandparents to join her in some sort of card game when visiting them.
Brandy was united in marriage to Doug Harms on December 22, 2006, in Harlan, Iowa. There was one son, Tyler William, born to this union. She was a devoted wife and mother. Being a “mommy” brought her such joy and fulfillment. She showered her sons with love, attention and patience. She had a knack of bringing sunshine to everyday life. She was a loving wife, expressing the happiness and contentment she felt everyday, sometimes by writing “I Love You” on the cupcakes and even by covering the driveway in chalk for Doug to read as he pulled in from work.
Family and friends were her most prized possessions. She cherished everyone and if you had a problem, it became hers. She loved keeping in contact with everyone through phone calls, email, cards and letters.
Brandy is preceded in death by her grandparents, Vearl and Mildred Chamberlain and uncle, Bruce Barton.
Left to mourn and cherish Brandys memory is her husband Doug and son Tyler, sons: Christopher and Charles of Tilden, Nebraska; parents: Russ and Joan Chamberlain of Harlan; brothers: Jereme (wife Erica) Chamberlain of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Rusty Chamberlain of Rockville, Maryland, Andy Chamberlain of Denver, Colorado; grandparents: Bob and Margie Barton of Harlan, Iowa; father-in-law Richard Harms of Lincoln, Nebraska; mother-in-law Sharon (husband John) Parks of Crete, Nebraska; sisters-in-law: Angie (husband Roy) Hereth of Crete, Nebraska, Cheri Harms of Crete, Nebraska, Brooke Parks of Crete, Nebraska; brother-in-law Brian (wife Niki) Harms of Crete, Nebraska; aunts, uncles, cousins and many other relatives and friends.
