C. Wayne Wilson

October 14, 1944 — January 9, 2011

Charles Wayne Wilson, the son of Leland James and Margie Lorraine (Hunt) Wilson, was born on October 14, 1944, in Creston, Iowa. Wayne entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 9, 2011, at the Greater Regional Medical Center, Creston, Iowa, at the age of sixty-six years, two months, and twenty-seven days.
Wayne lived all of his life in and around the Creston area. He graduated from Creston High School and attended Southwestern Community College for a short time. Wayne served in the Army Reserve National Guard.
Wayne was married to Mary Smith on August 3, 1968, who passed away in 1976. On July 10, 1991, Wayne married Cheryl Ann Wages at Prescott, Iowa.
Waynes interest in beef cattle started early on in his life helping his father on their family farm, like so many children of his generation did. He was a member of the Douglas Booster 4-H club in Union County, both as a young man and while his children were involved in 4-H. Wayne farmed in Union County until he and his wife purchased their first farm in 1969 in Adams County. He was active in the N.F.O. during its years in Corning, keeping area counties informed in cattle issues from 1973-1976. His farm is also home to 70 registered and 40 commercial Gelbvieh and Angus balancer cows. In 1993, Golden Pyramid Genetics was established with his wife Cheryl. In 2001, he was selected Breeder of the year by the Iowa Gelbvieh Association. He was the 2008 Adams County Cattlemen cattle producer of the year. Wayne was also a member of the Congregational Church in Cromwell.
In addition to his passion for farming, he had a great love for his family and especially his grandchildren. His wish this year was to have everyone home during the Christmas week and he unknowingly gave us the gift of our last Christmas together and we will rejoice in this memory.
Left to cherish Waynes memory are his wife: Cheryl Wilson, Lenox; his daughters: Marnie (husband Mike) Cline, Prescott; Deborah (husband Eric) Casebolt, Coralville, Iowa; Michelle Brown, Los Angeles, California; and Stacie (husband Todd) Hull, Raton, New Mexico; his son: Mark (wife Ragan) Eshelman, Ankeny, Iowa; his ten grandchildren: Jarrod Cline; Morgan Cline; Tristan Cline; Olivia Casebolt; Bennett and Brody Brown; Taylor, Ryan and Rachyl Hull; and Brock Eshelman; his mother: Margie Wilson, Creston; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Shirley and Kennedy Sharpe, Fontanelle, Iowa.
Preceding Wayne in death are his first wife: Mary Smith; his father: Leland Wilson; his brother: Steve Wilson; and his grandson: Jarrod Cline.
Memorial contributions may be made in Waynes name, to be determined at a later date.
