C.R. Dick Miller

February 11, 1935 — January 1, 2011

Charles Richard “Dick” Miller, son of Charlie C. and Mary Irene (Curry) Miller, was born on Monday, February 11, 1935 in Adams County, Iowa near Quincy. Dick entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at the Corning Nursing and Rehab Center in Corning, Iowa at the age of seventy-five years, ten months and twenty days.
Dick attended country school and farmed with his father until 1955. On August 23, 1955, Dick was united in marriage to Phyllis Jean Gentle at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning and four children were born to bless this union: Deborah, Jacquelin, Randy and Robert. The young couple lived on rented farms until 1962. In 1963, Dick and Phyllis purchased and moved to the farm Dick was raised on. With the exception of six years, Dick farmed his current farm, south of Quincy, all of his adult life. Dick was a livestock and crop farmer until 1991. Since 1991, Dick continued crop farming and bought and sold yearling calves.
Dick was well known in the community and looked forward to socializing with people. He enjoyed conversations with the coffee groups in the area. He was an avid hunter, liked spending time outdoors and fishing. Over many years, Dick especially loved attending races at the Adams County Speedway.
Left to cherish Dick’s memory is his wife of fifty-five years, Phyllis Miller of Corning, Iowa; daughter, Deborah Huber of Des Moines, Iowa; daughter, Jacqueline Miller of Walnut, Iowa; son, Randy Miller of Grimes, Iowa; son, Robert Miller of Corning, Iowa; four grandsons; two granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; sister, Mary Olive of Corning, Iowa; brother-in-law, Stanley Peterson of Corning, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
