Carroll William Boden

Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Creston with Military Honors by Theodore J. Martens VFW Post #1797. Memorials may be directed to the St. Malachy Foundation, Creston Nursing and Rehab, and/or Care Initiatives Hospice.
Carroll William Boden, the son of John William and Grace Louella (Hoyle) Heatherington, was born December 10, 1921, at Villisca, Iowa. Carroll entered eternal rest on January 19, 2010, at Creston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-eight years.
Carroll graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1941. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II from 1942 until 1945. Carroll was stationed overseas in the South Pacific during this time.
On August 11, 1945, he married Virginia Sophia Hafner at Elkton, Maryland. Carroll worked for the United States Postal Service for forty-one years. He delivered mail on the rural routes most of those years.
Carroll was a long-time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He served on the Parish Council, St. Malachy School Board, and the Calvary Cemetery Board. Carroll was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW, and American Legion Posts in Creston. He was a committee chairman for Troop #129 Boy Scouts of America for many years.
Left to cherish Carrolls memory are his Wife: Virginia Boden, Creston; his Children: Mary (Randy) Greer, Tabor, IA; Paul (Kay) Boden, Creston; David (Connie) Boden, Canon City, CO; Greg (Lisa) Boden, Indianola, IA; John (Linette) Boden, Norwalk, IA; Angie (Larry) West, Creston; Janet (Nick) Meisenheimer, Greenfield, IA; Twenty-one Grandchildren; Twenty-five Great-Grandchildren; his sister: Nadine Dorsey, Visalia, California; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Carroll in death were his Parents; a son: Carroll Boden, Jr. in 1961; a Brother: Clarke Boden; and a Brother-in-Law: Raymond Dorsey.
