Catherine Fessler

Catherine Fessler, 87, of Phoenix passed away on July 9, 2011, after a lengthy illness. A visitation and mass was held at St. Louis the King Parish in Glendale, Arizona on July 13. Graveside Services will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 19, at Calvary Cemetery in Creston. Father Joseph Pins will officiate. Memorials may be directed to St. Louis the King Parish, 4331 W. Maryland Ave., Glendale, Arizona 85301. Pearson-Coen-Beaty Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston is in charge of local arrangements.
Katie was born in Greenfield, Iowa, on August 4, 1923 to Edward J. and Margaret Reardon Fessler. She spent her childhood in Creston, Iowa. Katie attended St. Catherines School of Nursing in Omaha where she received her Bachelors of Nursing in 1948. Upon graduation, she entered the Department of Veterans Affairs where she worked for 35 years. She moved to Phoenix in March of 1972 from Ann Arbor, Michigan, and retired from nursing in 1983. Katie was an active member of St. Louis the King Parish in Glendale. She enjoyed baking, painting, golfing and her dog, Molly. She was passionate about her Irish Catholic roots. Katie was known for her generosity and caring nature, and had many friends. She will be greatly missed.
Katie is survived by her nephew Robert Fessler of Cincinnati, Ohio, his wife Paula and their four children, and several other relatives and friends.
