Catherine Tina Mueller

Catherine “Tina” Mueller, 90, of Creston, died Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center, Creston, Iowa. Christian Wake Services will be 3:30 P.M., Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. Father Kenneth Halbur, Jr., Holy Spirit Catholic Church, will officiate. Inurnment will be private at the Summitt Cemetery in Clarinda. Tina’s body was cremated and there will be no public viewing. The family will be hosting a Celebration Of Her Life from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Saturday, September 1 at Pearson Family Funeral Service. Memorials may be directed to an Educational Fund to be established in Catherine’s name. On-line condolences may be left at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.
Catherine “Tina” Mueller, the daughter of Martin and Sophie (Koygovsky) Sedlak, was born on July 8, 1922, in Dupont, Pennsylvania. Tina was a high school graduate and graduated from Bloomsburg State Teachers College in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. Tina married Edwin H. Mueller on December 9, 1944, at St. Paul’s Church in Douglas, Arizona. Edwin passed away in 1986.
Tina taught school for forty years, teaching 30 years of that in the Creston Public Schools. She continued to substitute teach until 1993. Tina taught in Douglas, Arizona after she met Edwin and they were both moving to Arizona. She also taught at Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska under Fr. Flanagan. Tina loved to travel and used her world travels as a tool for teaching in the classroom. Tina and Ed owned and operated Mueller Furniture Store in Creston.
She was a member of many organizations and was chairperson for many community projects. Her students were her whole life.
Left to cherish Tina’s memory are her daughter, Christine (husband John David) Linderman, Creston; her grandson, John Brook (wife Sara Ciani) Linderman, Kansas City, Missouri; her great-granddaughters, Mia Faye and Molly Catherine Linderman; her two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Sedlak, and Helen Salancy, both of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Tina in death were her parents; her husband in 1986; her son, Edward Thomas; her three sisters; and her five brothers.
