Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery in Creston with Military Honors by Theodore J. Martens VFW Post #1797. Memorials may be directed to the Salem Lutheran Church and/or Greater Regional Hospice.
Charles Ellis Foster, the son of Newton and Velda Iva (Harper) Foster, was born on June 10, 1925, at Corning, Iowa. Charles entered eternal rest on November 13, 2007, at the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-two years, five months and five days.
Chuck attended school at Corning and received his high school diploma from Corning High School. Chuck was drafted into the United States Navy and served during World War II from August, 1943 until March, 1946 on the U.S.S. Petrof Bay, an escort carrier.
On July 22, 1945, Chuck married Mary Jo Henry at the Salem Lutheran Church in Creston, Iowa. Chuck worked as a Lab Technician for a rubber company in California from 1957 until moving to Camanche, IA. He worked as a Lab Technician for Chemplex Company at Camanche. Chuck retired in 1975 due to health reasons.
Chuck was a member of the American Legion and a long-time member of the Salem Lutheran Church.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Virginia Foster.
Left to cherish Chucks memory are his wife, Mary Jo Foster, Afton; his brother, Lowell Foster, Raleigh, NC; his sister: Eleanor (and husband Dean “Pete”) McGaffin, Winterset; several nephews; one niece; several great-nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews.
