Cheryl Lyn Harper

November 29, 1978 — November 26, 2017

Cheryl Lyn Harper, daughter of Vicky Lynn Harper, was born November 29, 1978 in Norfolk Virginia. The family relocated to Iowa and Cheryl attended the Iowa School for the Deaf, graduating in 1998. The love she had for the school always came up in conversation. She enjoyed going to their homecoming games every year. Following her graduation, Cheryl moved to Creston and began working at Crest Haven Care Center. She worked in the kitchen as a Dieticians Aide for 10 years.
Cheryl was part of New Horizons in Creston and really enjoyed when they would take her to the Deaf Socials in Des Moines. She also enjoyed bowling with her friends and the staff of New Horizon every Thursday. Being deaf, Cheryl enjoyed teaching sign language to others. Cheryl also enjoyed watching scary movies, was fond of every kind of candy and was collector of “Coke” memorabilia, but most of all Cheryl loved spending time with her friends and family. Cheryl also had a great love for animals, especially her cat, Lucky. Cheryl truly loved people and life, she had a very strong faith in our Lord and that never wavered during her illness. Cheryl would say, “Stay positive, God will take care of me”. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her nephew, Sebastion Taulborg; uncle: William Rhodes and her Grandparents.
Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Vicky Harper, Atlantic, IA; two sisters: Heather (Paul) Taulborg, Overland Park, KS and Lisa Harper, Osceola, IA; brother, Chris Harper, Atlantic, IA; Aunts: Cheryl (Dan) Jones, Council Bluffs, IA, Linda (Fred) Mapstone, Virginia Beach, VA; Uncles: Buddy (Diane) Harper, Pace, FL, Steve (Leann) Rhodes, Broadus, MT: 10 nieces and nephews and many cousins she adored.
May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn.
