Cheryl P. Herring

Cheryl Pauline Herring was born to Paul Franklin Molyneux and Bertha Rogene Lane Molyneux on September 28, 1917. She entered eternal rest on October 22, 2006 at her home at Vintage Park, Lenox, Iowa at the age of eighty-nine years, and twenty-four days.
Cheryl grew up and was raised on a farm in the Prescott area. She attended country school in Prescott Township, Adams County, graduating from the 8th grade in June 1933. At this time, she took various jobs in homes as a helper.
On June 14, 1936 she was united in marriage to Harry Gene Herring at her parents home west of Prescott.
This marriage was blessed with five children: Kenneth Wayne, Dorothy Dee, Dallas LeRoy, Nancy Rogene and Dennis Fredrick.
Her early years were spent being a farm wife and mother. After leaving the farm and moving to town, Cheryl joined the work force after her children were all in school. She held positions with Silsbys Grocery Store, Horton Lees State Farm Insurance, Houck Plumbing and Heating, Dunhams Drug and McMahon Pharmacy. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Corning and the Corning American Legion.
In her later years she took correspondence courses in typing and shorthand. At the age of 80 she purchased a computer which she enjoyed immensely. She spent many hours on her computer.
In her retirement years Cheryl enjoyed many hours with the Methodist quilting circle. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and her flowers, and playing her organ. She belonged to various card clubs while living at Westgate and loved to help care for the elderly. The highlight of her life was spending time with her family.
Survivors include Dorothy (Denny) Tallon of Columbus, Nebraska; LeRoy Herring of Atlantic, Iowa; Rogene Wynn of Corning, Iowa; Dennis (Gayle) Herring of Bedford, Iowa; twelve grandchildren, four step-grandchildren,
twenty-nine great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Swartz, Corning, Iowa; sister-in-law, Marie Molyneux, Ames, Iowa.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband Gene; son, Kenneth; son-in-law, Bud Wynn; brother, Keith Molyneux; and brother-in-law, Robert Swartz.
She will be greatly missed.
