Crystal Matheny

Crystal Dorothy Matheny, the daughter of Sarah Anne (Briggs) and Benjamin Franklin Evans was born July 11, 1912 on a farm near Gravity, Iowa. Crystal entered Eternal Rest on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at Lenox Care Center at the age of ninety-three years, four months and seven days.
Crystal attended school at New Market, Iowa. On June 23, 1933, Crystal Dorothy Evans and Claude Lavern Matheny were united in marriage. She lived her entire life in Taylor County, Iowa. She was a member of the Gravity Christian Church and Union Squares Square Dance Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1994; daughter, Dorothy Louise Matheny; daughter-in-law, Ruth Matheny; grandson, Chester LaVern Matheny; brothers: Dewey Evans and Cash Evans; sisters: Pearl Bugg, Myrtle Fancher, Hazel Lister, Dimple Salter; Sylvia Peterman, Darlene Madden and Grace Gibson.
Survivors include her sons, Eldon Matheny of Lenox, Iowa; Harry (wife Sandy) Matheny of Edwardsville, Kansas; Gail (wife Mary) Matheny of Lenox, Iowa; Leonard (wife Judy) Matheny of Lenox, Iowa; daughter, Betty (husband Dell) Shimer of Creston, Iowa; sister, Nettie Cordell of Lenox, Iowa; sister-in-law, Mildred Evans of Gravity, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
