Curtis Downey

July 1, 1972 — October 26, 2015

Curtis Duane Downey was born July 1, 1972, in Creston, Iowa, the son of Carla Rae Downey and Denny Duane Hansen. Denny passed away suddenly when Curtis was an infant. Carla married Harold Eugene Beavers on December 15, 1972 and Harold became the only father Curtis knew. Curtis entered eternal rest on October 26, 2015 at Greater Regional Medical Center, Creston, Iowa at the age of forty-three years, three months, and twenty-five days.
Curtis attended Creston Public Schools and graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1990. While in High School, Curtis played on the Golf Team and won many trophies. He could be found at the golf course practicing as much as daylight would allow. Curtis worked for Heartland Tire after graduating; then worked for Southwest Distributing, delivering to businesses all over Southwest Iowa. He later worked for Pepsi delivering their products in the Des Moines area. Curtis began his career with Fareway in Waukee, and then transferred to Creston in 2003, to be the Dairy Manager.
Curtis liked to entertain and started Kamikaze Entertainment about eight years ago. He was an excellent singer and performed right along with the karaoke singers. Music was a huge part of Curtis’ life. He wrote and recorded many songs and collaborated on-line with other musicians. He encouraged anyone to sing and made them feel good while on stage in the spotlight.
Curtis was also an avid golfer, played in many tournaments, and won 2nd place at Crestmoor in a Father-Son tournament. Recently, he purchased a Harley Davidson motorcycle and loved riding.
Left to cherish Curtis’ memory are his children: Dylan Downey, Maryville, MO; Keyawna Conley, Maryville, MO; Alyssa Downey, Ankeny, IA; Tyler Downey, Creston; Michael Phelps, Afton; his father, Harold Beavers, Creston; his sisters: Kristi Vicker, Creston; and Mycale Downey, Creston; his brother, Brett Larkin, Creston; his grandmother, Lettie Hansen, Red Oak, IA; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Preceding Curtis in death were his mother, Carla Beavers; his brother, Bradey Larkin; his brother, Michael Beavers; his grandfather, and maternal grandparents
