Dallas Tucker

September 7, 1934 — August 27, 2019

Dallas Eugene Tucker was born September 7, 1934, in Fontanelle Iowa, the son of Earl and Shirley (Hanon) Tucker. Dallas entered eternal rest August 27, 2019, at his home in Manteca, California, at the age of eighty-four years.
Dallas graduated from Creston High School in 1953. On October 10, 1953 he was united in marriage to Betty Lou McDowell in Creston Iowa. Two children blessed the union. Shortly after he and Betty were married they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where they would reside for 31 years. While in Lincoln, Dallas worked as a Department Manager for a local gas company for 30 years. The couple later moved to California and to Las Vegas where Dallas worked as a Commercial Truck Driver for a number of companies.
After Betty’s death in 2003, Dallas returned to California where he continued to drive trucks, a job he really enjoyed. He was last employed at TEC of California and then Delta Truck Center, near Manteca, California where he test drove and delivered the “big rigs”. He was still working full time just a few days before his death. He was much admired by his employers and coworkers alike for his exemplary work ethic, his fairness and indelible charm.
Dallas enjoyed watching football, especially the New England Patriots and the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and especially when they were winning! Dallas loved listening to country music, particularly the “real stuff”, the classic country produced before 1990. One exception was Lee Ann Womack’s “I hope you dance”, which he loved and listen to regularly in his car. Dallas had a soft spot in his heart for animals of all kinds. He enjoyed watching Herons roost in the trees across from his patio and feeding the neighborhood stray cats. He routinely donated to numerous animal protection groups.
Left to cherish his memories are his children: Scott Tucker and wife Roseann of Lincoln, Nebraska and Vicky and husband Larry Rodriguez of Encinitas, California; grandchildren: Dallas and Jordan Tucker of Lincoln, Nebraska; four great grandchildren; brother Steve Tucker and wife Sharon of Lincoln, Nebraska and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Shirley; wife, Betty and sisters: Sherry, Betty, Bonnie and Roseanne.
