Daniel T. Katalinic

Daniel T. Katalinic, 84, of Creston, Iowa, died Friday, March 1, 2013 at Crest Haven Care Centre, Creston. No services are planned. Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Daniel Thomas Katalinic, Jr., the son of Daniel Thomas and Mary (Polink) Katalinic, was born on March 28, 1928 in Fairchance, Pennsylvania. Daniel graduated from Fairchance High School with the Class of 1946. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1946 until 1949. Following his discharge from the Navy, he attended the University of West Virginia for a year. On April 9, 1953, Daniel married Joanne Porch in Fairchance, Pennsylvania.
Daniel worked for the U. S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for over thirty-five years and retired at age 62. He also worked as a security guard at a mall in Syracuse, New York. Daniel was a member of the Elks Lodge #31 in Syracuse, NY and a past Exalted Ruler.
Left to cherish Daniels memory is his daughter, Danette Miro (Curt Grim), Creston, IA; his son, David Katalinic, Columbus, OH; three grandchildren: Melanie Miro, Syracuse, NY; Kristy (Terry) Phinney, Harrisburg, NC; and Erin Katalinic, Columbus, OH; five great-grandchildren: Alex Miro; Hope Rivera; Chase Phinney; Cayden Phinney; and Ella Phinney; and his sister-in-law, Louise Katalinic, Fairchance, PA. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2005; and his brother, John Katalinic.
