Daniel Leigh Glassinger, the son of Daniel Norton and Mary Vada (Leigh) Glassinger, was born on July 8, 1930, at McPherson, Iowa. Dannie entered eternal rest on April 26, 2009, at his home in Creston, Iowa, at the age of seventy-eight.
Dannie attended country school in McPherson. He lived most of his life in the Prescott and Adams County area and has lived in Creston since November, 2008.
Dannie married Kay Johnson on November 27, 1972 in Creston. Dannie married Grace Nell Beard on October 24, 1992, in rural Lineville, Iowa.
Dannie began farming when he moved to Prescott in 1951. Dannie was inducted into the United States Marine Corps on February 25, 1952, but was discharged due to medical reasons. He also did custom farming, and iron salvage; hauled grain and did corn shelling.
Left to cherish Dannies memory are his wife, Grace N. Glassinger of Creston; his Stepson: Lywn (wife Bobbie) Beard, Viola, KS; his Stepdaughters: Hester Beard, Middlebury, Vermont; and Regina (husband Chris) Smith, Creston; his Grandchildren: Jordan Field and Fiance Miranda Brozovich, and Christelle Beard, all of Viola, Kansas; Robert Meacham, IV and Meadow Meacham, both of Middlebury, VT; and Alex and Ian Smith of Creston, IA.
Dannie is also survived by his Brothers-in-Law: J.O. (wife Joan) Bright, Lineville, IA; Gene Bright, Lineville, IA; and Rex Bright, Newport News, VA; his Sisters-in-Law: Joanne Glassinger, Red Oak, IA; Donna (husband Ellis) Hollinger, Lineville, IA; Glenda Bright, Osceola, IA; and Pauline (husband Dennis) Burlingame, Cumming, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Preceding Dannie in death were his Parents; First Wife, Kay; Brothers: Orlo, George and Raymond Glassinger; Two Sisters: Leola Hair Herren and Florence Herren; Two Grandchildren: Russell and D. J. Beard; and Sister-in-Law: Ellen Bright.
