Darwin Bernard Mullen was born to Clara (Johnson) and Charles Mullen, Sr. on November 12, 1917, in rural Montgomery County, Iowa. Darwin entered eternal rest on July 8, 2005, at the age of eighty-seven years, seven months, and twenty-seven days.
Darwin graduated from Grant High School. On January 6, 1942, he married Yevonne Evelyn Simpson at Maryville, Missouri. This marriage was blessed with three children, Janice, David and Nancy. Darwin was a farmer. He was also a caretaker at Cold Springs Park in Lewis, Iowa.
Darwin was a member of Massena and Corning American Legion, Farm Bureau, and Carbon United Methodist Church.
Left to mourn Darwins passing are his daughter: Janice Springer, Omaha, Nebraska; his son: David (wife Phyllis) Mullen, Corning, Iowa ; his daughter: Nancy (husband Steve) Richey, Carbon, Iowa; Sisters: Marilyn (husband Ed) Whitaker, Atlantic, Iowa; Joyce Kinser, Corning, Iowa; Sister-In-Law: Helen Mullen, Corning, Iowa; Brother-In-Law: George Oleson, Atlantic, Iowa; nine Grandchildren; six Great Grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Darwin in death were his parents; his wife in May, 1999; Sister: Gladys Oleson; Brothers: Charles Mullen, Jr.; Carl Mullen; Gene Mullen; Eldon Mullen; Grandsons: Scott Richey, Matthew Springer; Neil Springer; Brother-In-Law Johnnie Kinser; Sister-In-Law: Pat Mullen; and Son-In-Law: Richard Springer.
