Deammie Jo Blazek, 55, of Des Moines, formerly of the Williamson area died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at the Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 30, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. Mary O’Riley will officiate. Interment will be at the Bohemian National Cemetery near Williamson in Adams County. Open visitation will be from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 29. Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Deammie’s name, to be decided at a later date. On-line condolences may be left at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.
Deammie Jo Blazek, the daughter of Margaret Ann (Garity) Blazek, was born on December 4, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa. Deammie grew up in the Prescott area and has lived in Des Moines, Iowa for the past fourteen years. Deammie graduated from Prescott High School with the Class of 1975, and she received an Associate Degree in Business from Southwestern Community College.
Deammie was married to Leslie George Granneman and was his constant companion for more than twenty years.
Deammie was employed by Fiserv, Inc. for the last thirteen years. She worked in Media Services in the production and distribution of bank and client records to their customers. Previous employment included cosmetology and Edward D. Jones Co., Matura Action Corporation in Creston and American Republic Insurance.
Deammie demonstrated her generosity towards others by being a consistent donor to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital and a long time member of the ASPCA. She was a parent chaperone for the Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa. Deammie was a blood donor who achieved the level of more than 1 and one half gallons donated.
Deammie had a life-long love of music, reading and crafting. She was a voracious reader who delighted in finding new releases by favorite authors. Her handiwork in knitting, sewing and cross stitch was highly admired. Deammie also loved to find new items for her extensive Betty Boop collection.
Left to cherish Deammies memory is her companion, Leslie Granneman, Des Moines; her daughter, Deirdre Blazek, Des Moines; her father, John Blazek, Prescott; her brother, Gary “Jake” Blazek, Prescott; her sister, Tammy (Mark) Rychnovsky, Diagonal; her brother, Daniel “Boone” (Angie) Blazek, Prescott; and several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives.
Preceding Deammie in death were her mother, Margaret in 2007; her sister, Patricia Lynn Blazek in 1970; and her maternal and paternal grandparents
