Dennis Denny Haley

Dennis Lloyd Haley, the son of Lloyd and Mona (Miller) Haley, was born April 9, 1948 in Creston, Iowa. “Denny” entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 66 years and 15 days.
Denny attended school in Creston until moving to Corning when he was a sophomore in high school. He graduated from Corning High School with the Class of 1967 and married his high school sweetheart, Donna Bashor, on June 24, 1967 at the Methodist Church in Corning. The couple were blessed with two children: DeAnna and David. On June 24, 2014, Denny and Donna would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.
Following graduation, Denny went to work for United Foods as a Meat Cutter for several years. He worked 25 years as a Produce Manager at Hy-Vee and was a Supervisor for Burcliff Industries. After Burcliff closed and moved their plant to Mexico, Denny worked for Precision Pulley until retiring in 2010, due to his failing health.
Denny is survived by his loving wife, Donna M. Haley of Corning, IA; his daughter, DeAnna James of Logan, KS and his son, David (Kristi) Haley of Frisco, TX; his grandchildren: Kirsten (Jake) Tien of Prairie View, KS, Derrick James of Logan, KS, Dominic Fox of Frisco, TX and Dillan Haley of Frisco, TX; his great-granddaughter, Aleeah Mae Tien of Prairie View, KS; Dennis is also survived by his mother-in-law, Maxine Bashor of Lenox, IA and his cat, Mia Marie; by his brother, Terry (Terri) Haley of Elkhorn, NE and his four sisters: Pat (Tom) Trusty of Omaha, NE, Donna Bissell of Red Oak, IA, Vicki Hensley of Sidney, IA and Annette (Bryan) Cunningham of Shenandoah, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
His family was Denny’s greatest love. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and taking them fishing. He liked woodworking and made all of his family mementos from all different species of wood. The family has fond memories of vacations to the Ozarks and Denny recently toured the new Cowboy Stadium in Texas. Denny was an avid NASCAR fan and fond of all sports, especially sports involving the ISU Cyclones. Deer hunting and turkey hunting were two of his favorite hobbies. Denny took great pride in his yard and tended diligently to his garden and the flower beds around his home.
Preceding Denny in death were his parents; father-in-law, Donald Bashor; and a brother-in-law, Marty Bissell.
