Dillard Paxton

Inurnment will be 9:30 A.M. Tuesday, November 24, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter, Iowa, with Military Honors by Theodore J. Martens VFW Post #1797 and Fred N. Davis Lorimor American Legion Post #96. Memorial contributions may be directed to the PKD Foundation.
Dillard Ivan Paxton, the son of Joseph Ray and Minnie Mary (Meyers) Paxton, was born on June 19, 1926 near Clarinda, in Page County, Iowa. Dillard entered eternal rest on November 18, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of eighty-three years, five months and one day.
Dillard graduated from Lorimor High School with the Class of 1943. On September 5, 1945, he married Lois Jane Steen in Missouri. He served in the United States Navy from June 25, 1945 until July 16, 1946, during World War II.
Dillard lived most of his life in the Lorimor area. He moved to Texas in 1981 and lived in College Station, Texas, before moving to Creston two years ago. Dillard operated a hog buying station in Lorimor with his Dad. He purchased the Standard Station and the Tank Wagon Service. He also installed furnaces and did crop spraying. Dillard worked in Des Moines from 1971 until 1980. He moved to Arizona for a year, then on to Texas. He worked as a sheet metal worker for Texas A M University (HVAC Systems) until his retirement in 1991.
Dillard was a former member of the Lions Club. He was a member of the Lorimor American Legion, Fred N. Davis Post #96 and the Salem Lutheran Church.

Davis, TX; Melinda (Lane) Siefkas, Peru, IA; Marchelle (Jim) Camp, Peru, IA; Son: Tony (Raju) Chinnah, Dallas, TX; his Son-in-Law: Paul Burdick, Cedar Rapids, IA; his six grandchildren: Chris (Sheila) Cox, Bryan, TX; Alice Cox, Ft. Davis, TX; Daniel (Katia) Burdick, Rochester, MN; Tony Siefkas, Peru, IA; Rachelle (Vern) Cashman, Murray, IA; Ben (Carri) Camp, Peru, IA; his Ten Great-Grandchildren; his Brother: Duane (Carolyn) Paxton, Pace, FL; Sister: Pauline Spencer, Winterset, IA; his Brother-in-Law: Bob Witt, Macksburg, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Dillard in death were his Parents; his Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law; his daughter: Marlene Burdick; his Sister: Maxine Witt; his Sister-in-Law: Lillian Paxton; and his Brother-in-Law: Forrest Spencer.
