Don Shelton

June 11, 1931 — November 18, 2010

Donald Paul Shelton, the son of Pervia Vain and Florence Ethel (Steele) Shelton, was born on June 11, 1931, in Unionville, Missouri. Don entered eternal rest on November 18, 2010, at his home in Creston, Iowa at the age of seventy-nine years.
Don lived all of his early life in Unionville, Missouri. He graduated from Unionville High School and attended Kirksville College in Missouri for 1 1/2 years. Don taught country school in Unionville, Missouri for several years. After he moved to Creston Don worked as an insurance investigator for Retail Credit, then Equifax.
On March 25, 1951 Don married Betty Bonebright. Four children were born to this union: Kathy, Rick, Randy and Don. Don was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and taught Sunday School to the Junior boys.
Left to cherish Dons memory are his wife, Betty Shelton, Creston; his children: Kathleen (husband Ralph) Domenico, Newland, NC; Rick (wife Kim) Shelton, Granbury, TX; Randy (wife Jan) Shelton, Lees Summit, MO; and Don (wife Terry) Shelton, Lake Lottawana, MO; his seven grandchildren: Amy Shelton, Joshua Shelton, Chelsa Shelton, Molly Shelton, Page Shelton, Adam Shelton, and Cody Shelton; his sisters: Laura Lou Moore, Whittier, CA; and Norma (husband Jim) Clubine, North Manchester, Indiana; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Preceding Don in death were his parents; his three sisters: Carol Lightfoot, Frances Vestal, and Marjorie Burns; his two brothers: Edwin and Verlan Shelton; and his brother-in-law: Pete Moore.
