Donald Hogan

Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Corning American Legion OURCQ Post #117.

James Donald Hogan, son of Thomas Francis and Ethel Eva (Edwards) Hogan, was born on his parents farm, near Corning, on March 25, 1922. Donald entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of eighty-seven years, eight months and seventeen days.
Donald attended rural schools then attended Corning High School, graduating with the Class of 1939. After graduating, Donald enlisted in the United States Navy and served two years during WWII before returning home and farming with his father.
Donald was united in marriage to Esther Ann Symonds, of Corning, on August 18, 1947 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Donalds parents moved into Corning and Donald and his wife moved to his parents farm. The couple was blessed with six children: Richard, Elizabeth, Patrick, Priscilla, Regina and James Jr.
Donald farmed his entire life. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Corning Cattlemans Association, Knights of Columbus and Dr. Muschamps Coffee Think Tank.
Left to cherish Donalds memory is his wife of sixty-two years, Esther Hogan of Corning, Iowa; son, Richard (Donna) Hogan of Corning, Iowa; daughter, Elizabeth Hogan of Los Angeles, California; son, Patrick Hogan of Butte, Montana; daughter, Priscilla (Michael) Shaw of Carmel, Indiana; daughter, Regina (Bryan) Boswell of Loveland, Colorado; son, Jamie (Debbie) Hogan of Corning, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters: Mabel Schweers of Des Moines, Iowa, Edna Du Bois of San Antonio, Texas and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Father Francis Hogan S.J.; sister, Mary Jane Jackson; brothers-in-law: Art Schweers, Ernie Du Bois and Don Jackson.
