Doris Irene Young, the daughter of Wendeline Vincent and Helen Irene (May) Miller, was born on February 19, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa. Doris entered eternal rest on January 23, 2015 at Crest Haven Care Center, Creston, Iowa at the age of eighty-nine years, eleven months, and four days. On February 23, 1940, Doris married Francis Aloysious Young at Saint Malachy’s Church in Creston, Iowa. Doris was a farm wife and was a wonderful cook.
Left to cherish Doris’ memory are her children: Linda (husband Jean) Benoit, Creston; Carolyn (husband Dennis) Abel, Creston; Sharon (husband Dean) Nickles, Polk City; Tony Young, Creston; Richard “Rick” (wife Karla) Young, Creston; Jim Young, Creston; Tina (husband Brett) Chapman, Creston; Nine Grandchildren; Fifteen Great-Grandchildren; her sisters: Ethel Carson, Creston; Pat Schaefer, Greenfield; Maie Jensen, Waukee; her brother: David (wife Mary) Miller, Creston; and her sister-in-law: Susie Miller, Creston.
Preceding Doris in death were her parents; her husband, Frank in 1981; her son, Larry Young; her daughter-in-law, Beverly Young; her grandchild: Christy Nickels; her great-great-grandchild: Chace Noble; her brothers: Vincent Miller, Thomas Miller and Clyde Miller; and her sisters: Helen Jackson and Lucille Ossian.
