Doris Kirchgessner Calvin

Doris Kirchgessner-Calvin, 87, of Creston passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Greater Regional Hospice House, Creston. A Celebration of Life Service will be planned at a later date. Doris Jane Kirchgessner-Calvin, the daughter of Arthur A. and Jennie (Watson) Jensen, was born October 28, 1929, in Omaha, Nebraska. Doris was educated in Country Schools in Adair County, Iowa. As a young girl, Doris worked with her father, Arthur, who owned the Country Store at Williamson in Adams County.
Doris has lived in Adams County, Greenfield, IA, California and Colorado. She has lived in Creston since 1975 and was a homemaker most of her life. Doris worked for Grant’s Department Store in California several years, and she worked for HyVee in Creston in the cafeteria for a few years. On December 11, 2001, she married Robert Calvin in Creston.
Doris was a former, long-time member of the Eagles Lodge and was a current member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lenox, Iowa.
Left to cherish Doris’ memory is her husband, Robert Calvin, Creston; her three daughters: Pam Stewart, Creston; Kim Morales, Perry, IA; and Ruth Page, Goleta, CA; Five Grandchildren: Monty (Bobby) Stewart, Indianola, IA; Marcus Schmitz, Perry, IA; Breann (Jerimy) Wickson, Las Vegas, NV; Tondi Medina, Goleta, CA; and Sydne (Mike) Keller, West Lake Village, CA; Four Great-Grandchildren: Emily Stewart; Darrin Ray Stewart; Elija and Diandra Medina; her sister-in-law, Oletta Hansen, Red Oak, IA; several, nephews, nieces and other relatives; her Three Step-Children: Deborah (Ron) Jellison, Cresswell, OR; Dianne Christensen, Marcola, OR: and Harvey (Jannie) Calvin, Eugene, OR; several Step-Grandchildren; her brother-in-law: LeRoy (Jannie) Calvin, Creston; and her sisters-in-law: Iva James, Stanton, IA; and Nancy Knox, San Diego, CA.
Preceding Doris in death were her parents; her grandson, Darrin Ray Stewart; Two brothers-in-law: Cleo James and Danny Knox; her half-brother, Ken Hansen; and her former husband, Gene Kirchgessner.
