Dorothea Tackett

Dorothea Tackett, 86, of Creston, died Thursday, February 2, 2012, in Creston, Iowa. Services will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 9, at the First Baptist Church, Creston. Pastor Dave Tebbenkamp will officiate. Interment will be at the Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open Visitation will be from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 8, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Dorothea’s name. On-line condolences may be left at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.
Dorothea Grace Tackett, the daughter of Walter Lewis and Edna Grace (Moreland) Bunzendahl, was born on May 28, 1925, in Creston, Iowa. Dorothea lived in Creston most of her life. She graduated from Creston High School. On March 20, 1947, Dorothea married Robert Mack Tackett in California. They lived in Long Beach, California for a short time then returned to Creston so Robert could farm in Union County. Dorothea began working at Greater Community Hospital in Creston around 1960 as a billing clerk and filed hospital claims for Medicare. Dorothea worked at the hospital for twenty-five years and retired in 1985.
Dorothea was a member of the First Baptist Church in Creston for over fifty years.
Left to cherish Dorothea’s memory are her children: Peggy (Michael) Anderson, Omaha, Nebraska; David (Suzie) Tackett, Tempe, Arizona; and Steve Tackett, Los Angeles, California; her daughter-in-law: Mary Tackett, Saint Peters, Missouri; Ten Grandchildren; several Great-Grandchildren; her sister: Doreen Taylor, Creston; one nephew: Fred (Donna) Taylor, Creston; and several cousins including Robert and Maxine Moreland of Afton.
Preceding Dorothea in death were her parents; her husband in 1981; her son, Robert “Bob” Tackett, in 2006; her brother-in-law, Frank Taylor in 1970; and one granddaughter and one grandson as infants.
