Dorothy Gunter

August 16, 1925 — September 13, 2010

Dorothy Gunter, 85, of Creston, died Monday, September 13, 2010, at her home in Creston. Graveside Services will be private and there will be no public viewing. Rick Titus will officiate. Interment will be at the Carl Cemetery in Adams County, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. Pearson-Coen-Beaty Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Dorothy Mae Gunter, the daughter of Elmer Henry and Grace Pearl (Edwards) Juergens, was born on August 16, 1925, near Kent, in Union County, Iowa. Dorothy graduated from Prescott High School. She received her RN Degree from Jenny Edmundson Nursing School and also received her Masters Degree in Nursing. Dorothy moved back to the Creston area from Council Bluffs in 1975.
Dorothy worked as a Registered Nurse her whole life. She was employed by the old Creston Hospital and the area nursing homes. She worked for a couple of years as a Home Health Care Nurse. Dorothy was the Director of Nursing for the Afton Care Center for several years.
Dorothy was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ.
Left to cherish Dorothys memory are her sons: Bill (wife Vickie) Gunter, Ankeny, Iowa; and Edward Gunter, Creston; her daughter: Kathi (husband Mark) Miller, Creston; her five grandchildren; her two great-grandchildren; her brother: Dale Juergens, Clearfield; and three nieces, one nephew, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents; one sister in infancy; and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
