Dorothy M. Henry

Dorothy Maxine Henry, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Olson) Henry, was born on January 29, 1921, at Creston, Iowa. Dorothy entered eternal rest on January 11, 2007, at the Afton Care Center in Afton, Iowa, at the age of eighty-five years, eleven months, and thirteen days.
Dorothy attended Creston Public Schools and graduated from Creston High School with the class of 1939. Following graduation, Dorothy began working for Armours in Creston. Later, Dorothy served as Clerk of Court in Union County for 37 l/2 years. Following retirement, Dorothy remained in her own home until her health declined and she moved to the Afton Care Center two years ago.
Dorothy was a life-long member of Salem Lutheran Church where she served as church secretary for several years, sang in the choir and was a Sunday School Teacher. Dorothy loved baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves. She also loved her cats and her home, which she helped build. Dorothy loved her family and took care of her mother until her death in 1964. Dorothy was a very caring and giving person.
Left to mourn Dorothys passing is her sister: Mary Jo (husband Chuck) Foster, Afton. Dorothy is also survived by several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; several great-great-nieces and great-great nephews; and other relatives.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents; three Brothers: Clinton “Pete” (and Maxine) Henry; Russel Alfred (and Mildred) Henry; and Walter Joseph Henry (in infancy); Nephew: David Henry; Niece: Nancy Wright; and Great-niece: Linda Henry.
