Dorothy Peterson

Dorothy Colleen Peterson, daughter of Lester Dick and Fern (Perlman) Eblen, was born on June 25, 1935 near Cumberland, Iowa in Cass County. Dorothy passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Alegent Creighton Health Mercy Hospital in Corning, Iowa at the age of seventy eight years, six months and nine days.
Dorothy was united in marriage to J.W. “Bill” Peterson on September 8, 1951 in Omaha, Nebraska. Three boys were born to bless this union: Randy, Marc and Tim. Bill passed away on January 24, 1993.
The couple lived in Adams County, near Lincoln Center sixty-two years ago. Bill and Dorothy moved to Corning around 1980. Dorothy spent the majority of her life raising her children and caring for her husband as a housewife and homemaker. After Bill’s passing, Dorothy moved to Westgate and later moved to the Corning Nursing and Rehab Center in Corning, Iowa.
Dorothy loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas, where she visited many times. She enjoyed horse racing and loved playing cards with friends and family. Dorothy was a member of the Lincoln Center United Methodist Church until it closed.
Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her sons: Randy (Vickie) Peterson of Cumberland, IA, Marc (Maida) Peterson of Ankeny, IA and Tim (Kris) Peterson of Corning, IA; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Peterson; brother, Stanley; three sisters: Sondra, Delores and Darleen; granddaughter, Andrea Peterson.
