Dortha I. Pearson

January 6, 1907 — September 7, 2007

Burial will be at the Carl Cemetery in Adams County. Memorials may be directed to the CArl United Methodist Church.
Dortha Irene Pearson, the daughter of Earl and Elva May (Hardisty) Falconer, was born on January 6, 1907, in Adams County, Iowa. Dortha entered eternal rest on September 7, 2007, in Corning, Iowa, at the age of one hundred years. She celebrated her 100th birthday in January, 2007 with her family and friends.
As a child she lived south of Brooks, Iowa and attended Jasper #5 school, then moved with her parents to their farm southwest of Carl. She attended Hollow Country School (Carl #4) in Carl Township. Dortha was a life long member of the Carl United Methodist Church.
Dortha and Donald Eugene Pearson were united in marriage on January 20, 1926, at the home of her parents. They were privileged to spend seventy-four years together and were blessed with two children: Evelyn June and Marlin Dean. Donald, Dortha and children moved back to the Falconer farm southwest of Carl in 1940.
Dortha kept busy with her family, her chickens and her garden filled with many beautiful flowers. She was active in her church and community helping with programs, 4-H and Carl Parade activities. She was a wonderful Grandma to her grandchildren.
Grandma wrote in one of her letters, “I love my children, grand- and great-grandchildren, my home, friends and neighbors. They all mean so much to me”. Grandma had many passions, which included the Carl Methodist Church, her families school activities and interests. She loved having picnics with her family where she could share her skill for making pies. Every year Grandpa and Grandma looked forward to camping at the Iowa State Fair. Grandma often said she felt closest to the Lord in her garden.
Dortha leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter Evelyn Chappell, Corning; her son Marlin (wife Elinor) Pearson, Corning; Eight Grandchildren: Linda (husband Gordon) Lundberg, Ogden; Diann (husband Dave) Zimmerman, Cedar Rapids; Jim (wife Michelle) Chappell, Phoenix, AZ; Stan (wife Marge) Pearson, Waukee, IA; Doug (wife Sheryl) Pearson, Creston, IA; Joanne (husband John) Conrads, North Liberty, IA; Janet (husband Paul) Johannes, Massena, IA; and Curt (wife Angie) Pearson, Corning, IA; Twenty-six great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, Donald on September 14, 2000; Brother: Charlie Falconer; five sisters-in-law; and five brothers-in-law.
