E. Max Brown

Burial will be at the Westerville Cemetery north of Grand River, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Congregate Meal Site, Creston.
Ellree Max Brown, the son of Ellree Monroe and Mary (Greenland) Brown, was born October 30, 1931 in Decatur County, Iowa near Grand River. Max entered eternal rest peacefully at Greater Regional Medical Center on Friday, August 15, 2008 at the age of 76 years, nine months and 17 days.
Max and Wilma Marie Steen were united in marriage on June 4, 1951 in Grand River, Iowa. One daughter, Dixie was born to bless this union.
Max worked hard all of his life. He worked for the Armour Company for several years. Max also worked for John Sash at Sash Burial Vault Company for 17 years. Max worked many years as a custodian at the Creston hospital where he retired. Max was known for his jokes and his purpose in life was to make people smile. He was a very loving and caring person. Max belonged to the First Baptist Church where he has been a member since 1960.
Preceding Max in death were his parents; his mother and father-in-law: Lois and Eldon McClure; a sister-in-law: Eloise Brown and a brother-in-law, Doyle Steen.
Left to cherish Maxs memory is his loving wife of 57 years, Wilma Brown of Creston; his daughter, Dixie (husband Ron) Waffle of Gretna, Nebraska; four grandchildren: Jamie, Moya, Ozley and Machaela; two great-grandchildren: Collin and Madelyn; four step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren; four brothers: Harold Brown of Tingley, Iowa, Lieu (wife Jean) Brown of Prescott, Iowa, Ronnie (wife Deann) Brown of Grand River, Iowa and Gene (wife Peggy) Brown of Leon, Iowa; his sister, Rosemary (husband Ronnie) Stark of Grand River, Iowa. Max is also survived by a brother-in-law, Don (wife Lorena) Steen of Marshalltown, Iowa and a sister-in-law, Pat Steen of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
