Ed Pesik

Edward Anthony Pesik, the son of Anthony Joseph and Anna Urcela (Toman) Pesik, was born on April 18, 1921 in Spaulding Township, near Creston in Union County, Iowa. Ed entered eternal rest on April 10, 2010, at Crest Haven Care Centre, in Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-eight years, eleven months, and twenty-three days.
Ed was a life-long resident of the Creston and Union County area. He graduated from Orient High School. On August 21, 1942, Ed entered the United States Army and served until December 2, 1945, during World War II. He served fourteen months in North Africa and eighteen months in Italy and was credited with a 3 year Good Conduct Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars; and a World War II Victory Medal. Ed was a farmer all of his life in Spaulding Township. He raised cattle, and also raised chickens and hogs throughout his life. Ed did a lot of custom farming for many people and sold Archer Oil for many years.
Ed was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the VFW; the Williamson and Creston American Legion; the Eagles Lodge; and he was a former member of the Lions Club.
Ed was an avid bowler and was very good at it. He was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame in 1992. Ed enjoyed the competition of a good bowling match. He also volunteered his time to cook for the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus and was a blood donor for many years.
Left to cherish Eds memory are his sisters: Irene Pesik and Rosalie Pesik, both of Creston; his Special Friend: Irene Book of Creston; and several cousins.
Preceding Ed in death are his Parents; his brothers: Alfred, Sylvester, and Paul Pesik; his sisters: Magdelene, Albena, and Frances Pesik; and an infant sibling at birth.
