Edna Priest

April 21, 1921 — August 14, 2010

Edna Viola Priest, the daughter of Frank Andrew and Olga Elizabeth (Voss) Kessler, was born on April 21, 1921, in Union County, Iowa. Edna entered eternal rest on August 14, 2010, at Crest Haven Care Centre, Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-nine years, three months, and twenty-five days.
On October 21, 1939, Edna married John Benjamin Priest. John passed away April 7, 1995. Edna lived on farms south of Afton and Creston; and she lived on the farm south of Creston for approximately seventy-five years. She was a homemaker and a farm wife.
Edna was a member of the Platte Center Presbyterian Church and the Busy Bee Club. She volunteered at Greater Community Hospital for thirty years, and she also volunteered at Jane Brown Physical Therapy.
Left to cherish Ednas memory are her son: John Priest, of Afton and special friend, Patricia Belois, of Minneapolis, MN; her granddaughter, Susy (husband Michael) Wylie, Smithville, MO; her grandson, Brian (wife Dana) Priest, Dubuque, IA; her great-grandchildren: Max and Mary Priest; and Thomas Wylie; her sisters: Helen Hamilton, Willow Springs, MO; May Carlisle, Creston; and Pearl Mullin, Creston; her sisters-in-law: Maudie Priest, Springfield, MO; and Fern Priest, Decatur, IA; many nieces, nephews and friends; and Ednas special companion dog Polly.
Preceding Edna in death were her parents; her husband, John; her sisters: Ruth Monday and Mary Kail; her brothers: Harold (and wife Francis) and Warren (and wife Roberta Kessler); and five brothers-in-law: William Huss, Albert Hamilton, Darwin Carlisle, Russell Mullin, and Leo Kail.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Platte Center Presbyterian Church.
