Edward Amdor

Edward R. Amdor, son of Bennett Nicholas and Ella Irene (Devereaux) Amdor, was born on January 29, 1929 in Corning, Iowa. Edward entered eternal rest on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of eighty-four years, nine months and twenty-three days.
Following Ed’s graduation from Corning High School, he began his career in agriculture as a farmer. Ed entered the United States Army on January 2, 1951 where he honorably served during the Korean War Conflict in the 10th Recon Unit until his discharge on December 18, 1952.
Ed married Janice Margaret Anstey and four children were born to this union. The couple later divorced. Ed was united in marriage to Jinx R. Blum in 1973 and together the couple raised five children.
Ed became an auctioneer and owner of several livestock auctions. He was a bonded cattle buyer and owner of thoroughbred race horses and was an avid golfer.
Besides Corning, Ed has lived in Massena and Bedford and returned to Corning after his retirement in 1993.
Ed was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Corning American Legion OURCQ Post #117.
Left to cherish Ed’s memory is his wife, Jinx Amdor of Corning, IA; children: Ben (Della) Amdor of Osceola, IA, Carol (Doug) Hardisty of Corning, IA, Kathy (John) Elliott of Albia, IA, Laurie Redding of Des Moines, IA and Charlotte (Dave) Brahms of Cumberland, IA; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Beth Mueller of Omaha, NE and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Jack and Bill Amdor; two sisters: Barbara Shuler and Helen Amdor; brothers-in-law: Harry Mueller and Olin Shuler; sisters-in-law: Doris Amdor and Inez Amdor.
