Ethelda Stillinger

Burial will be at the Brooks Cemtery in Adams County.

Ethelda Maxine Stillinger, the daughter of James Clarence and Elsie Ethel (Myers) Stalder, was born on May 24, 1917, at Brooks, Iowa. Ethelda entered eternal rest on February 8, 2009, at the Lantern Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Coralville, Iowa, at the age of ninety-one years, eight months and seventeen days.
Ethelda lived in Brooks most of her life, but she did live in California for seven years. On December 25, 1936, Ethelda married Clyde Russel Stillinger at Bedford, Iowa. This union was blessed with three children: Janet, Jane and Ronald.
Ethelda owned and operated the Brooks Greenhouse from 1961 until 1967. Ethelda then went to work for the Corning School Hot Lunch Program from 1968 until 1985. Ethelda was a member of the Brooks United Methodist Church and Ladies Circle.
Left to cherish Etheldas memory are her children: Janet Squier, Carlisle, Iowa; Jane (husband Richard) Tauchen, Iowa City, Iowa and Ronald Stillinger, Carson, Iowa; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Ethelda in death were her parents; husband, Clyde; two brothers: John Stalder and an infant brother and also by a nephew, Dennis Stalder.
