Interment will be at the Carl Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Alegent Health Mercy Hospital and/or Alegent Health Hospice and/or Vintage Park, Lenox, Iowa.
Evelyn attended Methodist Grove country school and graduated from Nodaway High School. After high school, Evelyn was united in marriage to Paul Frederick Hardisty, of the Carbon area, on June 23, 1944 in Creston, Iowa by Reverend Fredmund of the Baptist Church. There were three children born to bless this union: Jerry, Marvin and Beverly.
In 1948, after Paul was honorably discharged from the Marine Corp at the end of WWII, Paul and Evelyn moved to Carl to start farming, where the young couple raised their family.
Evelyn had a passion for writing daily in her diary. She has diaries dating as far back as 1944. She loved quilting, sewing and attending Pauls Marine Corp Reunions. The couple loved to travel and took many vacations throughout the United States.
Evelyn was a member of the Carl United Methodist Church and was an active participant in the Carl United Methodist Women until she moved to Corning.
Left to cherish Evelyns memory are her sons: Jerry (Susan) Hardisty of Hillsboro, NC and Marvin (Joyce) Hardisty of Osceola, IA; daughter, Beverly (John) McMahon of Corning, IA; seven grandchildren: Megan Emily Hardisty of Hillsboro, NC, Christopher Hardisty of Alexandria, VA, Charmi (Terry) Geerdes of Nevada, IA, Carrie Hardisty of Ankeny, IA, Wesley (Emily) McMahon of Baltimore, MD, Maggie (John) Jones of Corning, IA; five great-grandchildren; twin siblings: Leo “Bill” (Dixie) Stalder of Brooks, IA, Leona (Dean) Kester of Corning, IA and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Evelyn in death was her husband, Paul Hardisty in 2002; three brothers: Melvin “Steve”, Alvin “Shorty” and Edgar Hardisty; sister, Clarissa Wallace and a baby sister who died at birth.
