Evelyn June Chappell

Evelyn June Chappell, only daughter of Donald E. and Dortha I. (Falconer) Pearson was born May 22, 1928 in Carl Township, Adams County, Iowa. Evelyn entered eternal rest on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa at the age of eighty six years, one month and fifteen days.
Evelyn graduated from Corning High School with the class of 1945. She received her Normal Training Certificate and taught in a country school in Carl before her eighteenth birthday, and again taught in a rural school several months in 1947 and 1953. Later Evelyn worked as a District Avon Representative. She and Ted Moran were founding members and managers of their band, The Stragglers. Evelyn managed the family farm for over twenty years of which she was very proud. Evelyn was a member of the Carl United Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing, playing the guitar and keyboard which was a reflection of her passion for music. She also loved cooking and sewing. When she was young she loved riding horses.
Left to cherish Evelyn’s memory is her constant companion of twenty three years, Ted Moran of Creston; daughters, Linda (Gordon) Lundberg of Ames, Iowa and Diann (Dave) Zimmerman of Clive, Iowa; a son, Jim (Michelle) Chappell of Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Marlin (Elinor) Pearson of Corning; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents.
Open visitation will be Sunday, July 13 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.. Funeral Services will be held at the Pearson Family Funeral Service in Corning, Monday, July 14, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Fred Bryson officiating. Interment will be at the Carl Cemetery.
