Frances L. Jungst was born May 1, 1919 to Frances Mabel (Kilgore) and John Albert Peterson near Creston in Platt Township, Union County, Iowa. Frances entered eternal rest on October 15, 2008, at Rolling Green Village, Nevada, Iowa, at the age of eighty-nine.
Frances attended rural schools in Platt Township, Union County. She graduated from Creston High School in 1936 and from Creston Junior College in 1938. After graduation, she taught school in Grant Township.
On December 1, 1940, she was married to Edward Jungst from Afton, Iowa. They took up residence in Zearing, Iowa where she taught as a substitute teacher in rural schools around Zearing.
During World War II, they lived in Portland, Oregon for 4 years where she worked at Albino Shipyard. Following the War, they returned to Zearing, and in 1949, they moved to Manson, Iowa. In 1952, they returned to Creston where they lived until 2006 when they moved to Rolling Green Village in Nevada, Iowa.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents Mabel and Albert, her sister Anna McLean of Corning, and her brother Alden Peterson of Creston.
Frances is survived by her husband Edward; her sons: Steven (wife Nancy) Jungst of Nevada, Iowa, Donald (Wife Mary Anne) Jungst of Indianapolis, Indiana; two granddaughters: Christa Jungst Nelson of Oswego, Illinois, and Rebecca Jungst Hoff of Indianapolis; and three great grandchildren: Emma and Shane Nelson, and Ian Hoff. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Neva Peterson of Creston, Iowa, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
