Garland Richards

Garland Marie Richards, the daughter of James Andrew Patrick Mullin and Grace Marie (Hayes) Mullin, was born July 9, 1925 in Creston, Iowa. Garland entered eternal rest on October 4, 2010, at Crest Haven Care Centre, Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-five years, two months, and twenty-eight days.
Garland grew up in Creston and graduated from Creston High School. She married Thomas Richards and they later divorced. Garland has lived in Creston the past thirty-two years. Garland was a homemaker. She has worked as a secretary and also worked at the Creston Congregate Meal Site.
Garland was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. She enjoyed dancing and also enjoyed spending time with her family.
Left to cherish Garlands memory are her children: Mike (wife Lynette) Richards, Cedar Rapids; Greg Richards, Des Moines; Tomi (husband Gary) McHone, Waukee; Lana (husband Jim) Bird, Creston; and Mary Geary, Creston; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law: Marilyn Mullin, West Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Garland in death were her parents; her son, Steve Richards; her sister Jerry and husband Bud Brownrigg; her sister Patty Worrell; and her brother Jim Mullin.
