Gary L. Brownrigg

Family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:00 PM Friday evening, May 4, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery with military honors by Theodore J. Martens VFW Post #1797. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Gary Lee Brownrigg, the son of L. J. “Bud” and Emma Geraldine “Jerry” (Mullin) Brownrigg, was born on October 23, 1944, at Cromwell, Iowa. Gary entered eternal rest on May 1, 2007, at the Greater Regional Medical Center, Creston, Iowa, at the age of sixty-two years, six months, and eight days.
Gary graduated from Creston High School with the class of 1963. He attended Southwestern Community College in Creston for one year. Gary served in the United States Army from March 29, 1966-March 28, 1968 during the Vietnam War.
Gary married Nancy Cederburg who preceded him in death in 1979. A daughter was born to this union. Later, Gary married Debra Trent who preceded him in death in 2006. A son was born to this union. On August 6, 1994, he married Sandee Marie Wilson at Creston, Iowa. Gary was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Creston; the Union County Saddle Club; the National Rifle Association; and a member of AA. Gary loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He was also an animal lover, and he especially loved horses.
Gary has lived in Creston for twenty-six years. He previously lived in Perry, Adel and Panora. Gary also lived in Ames for several years. Gary worked as an auctioneer for many years. He worked as a custodian at the Courthouse in Creston; worked at Innovative Industries as a job coach and helping clients find employment; and he worked at the Afton Care Center as a CNA. Gary worked at Iowa State University for several years.
Preceding Gary in death were his Mother “Jerry” in 2006; Father “Bud” on April 28, 2007; and Father-in-Law: Ted Wilson in 1998.
Left to mourn Garys passing is his wife: Sandee Brownrigg, Creston; his mother-in-law: Dora Wilson, Creston; his Son: Lance Brownrigg, Madison, WI; his Daughter: Shannon (husband Matt) ORiley, Creston; Step-sons: Bryan Spencer, Creston; Tom (wife Jessica) Spencer, Creston; Randy Spencer, Creston; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brother: Randy (wife Sandy) Brownrigg, Ankeny, IA; his sisters: Gloria (husband Joe) Wright, Panora, IA; Linda (husband George) Bailey, Clearfield; Sharon (husband Gail) Freihage, Prescott; and Angie (husband Mark) Vicker, Creston; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
