Gene Freemyer

January 14, 1931 — March 7, 2006

Gene Freemyer was born to Monola Leona (Means) and Eugene Virgil Freemyer on January 14, 1931, in Creston, Iowa. Gene entered eternal rest on March 7, 2006, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa, at the age of seventy-five years, one month, and twenty-one days.
Gene graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1949. Gene served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1951 - 1954.
Gene married Peggy Ann Foster on July 25, 1952 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
He worked as a brakeman for Burlington Northern in the 1950s. Following his return from the service, he graduated from Iowa State University in 1958. Gene worked for Allied Chemical from 1960-1978 as a research food chemist, then returned to the railroad as an Engineer in 1978. He retired in December, 1991.
Gene was an avid sports fan. He was the owner and trainer of thouroughbred race horses all of his adult life. He loved trapping, hunting and fishing.
Left to mourn Genes passing are his wife: Peggy Freemyer, Creston; his daughters: Kristi (Steve ) Perry, Gretna, Nebraska; Tammy (Mark) Haynes, Mountain Home, Arkansas; Three Grandchildren: Heidi and Claire Perry; and Jake Haynes; his brother: Jerry (Sue) Freemyer, Lebanon, Missouri; and his sister: Connie (Rex) Spainhower, Creston.
Preceding Gene in death were his parents; his daughter: Rebecca Freemyer; and his brother: Bill Freemyer.
