George Bothell

July 24, 1920 — October 7, 2012

George Olin Bothell, son of Robert N. and Pearl Elizabeth (Johnston) Bothell, was born on July 24, 1920 in Adams County, near Prescott, Iowa. George entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at his home in rural Prescott, Iowa at the age of ninety-two years, two months and thirteen days.
George attended country school in Adams County and graduated with the Class of 1936 from Prescott High School. After graduation, George entered into the Coast Guard where he honorably served his country during WWII. After his discharge, George started a life of farming that lasted nearly seventy years raising sheep, cattle, hogs, chickens and milk cows, in addition to his row crops.
On March 25, 1956, George was united in marriage to Lois Darlene Eigenheer on a farm near Lenox and two daughters were born to bless this union: Roberta and Stacey.
George was an avid fisherman and went every chance he had. In the wintertime, he loved to crack walnuts for his daughters. He loved gooseberry pie, 10 pt. pitch, pool and watching baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed attending his grandsons basketball games.
George was a member of the American Legion in Prescott and the Masonic Lodge in Prescott.
Left to cherish Georges memory are his daughters: Roberta (Charlie) Hribal of Orient, Iowa and Stacey (Chuck) Truman of Prescott, Iowa; four grandsons: Nathan (Alicia) Truman, Alex Truman and his girlfriend, Lindsey Grau, Andrew Hribal and Izak Hribal; two great-grandsons: Brayden and Brody Truman; three brothers-in-law: Alford “Nick” Nicholson of Lenox, Iowa, Jack Refer of Lenox, Iowa and Duane Eigenheer of Norwalk, Iowa; three sisters-in-law: Ila Lincoln of Osage, Iowa, Bonnie Kirk of Adel, Iowa and Noretta Eigenheer of Norwalk, Iowa and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
George was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois in 1993; brother-in-law, Tom Lincoln; sisters-in-law: June Nicholson and Betty Refer.
