Gladys J. Wiese

Burial will be at the Bohemian Cemetery in rural Prescott, Iowa.

Gladys Josphine Wiese, daughter of Lew and Anna (Novy) Slezak was born in rural Prescott, Iowa on Wednesday, February 15, 1922. Gladys entered eternal rest on Friday, July 31, 2009 at Montgomery County Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of eighty-seven years, five months and sixteen days.
Gladys attended country schools and following graduation received a two year teachers certificate from college in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught in country schools for four years. Gladys then taught at Macedonia School for two years. In 1971, Gladys attended ceramic classes at Southwestern Community College in Creston for five years. Gladys loved to play pitch and solitary. Her passions were gardening and her dog, Jake.
On August 28, 1948, Gladys was united in marriage to Ernest Eggert Wiese at the United Methodist Church in Creston, Iowa. Three children were born to bless this union: Margaret, Lyle and Jerry.
Gladys was a past member of the United Methodist Church in Corning where she was also the Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher for several years and the United Methodist Church in Prescott. Over the years Gladys was involved in numerous organizations and societies in the Corning and Prescott area.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Margaret (husband Gerald) Queck of Corning, Iowa; son Lyle (wife Janelle) Wiese of Prescott, Iowa and their children, Adam (wife Stephanie) Wiese of Dennison, Iowa and Andy Wiese of Council Bluffs, Iowa; late son, Jerry Wiese, his children: Codie (wife Alysia) Wiese of Corning, Iowa, Tony Wiese and Wendy Wiese, both of Arizona, J.J. (wife Grace) Wiese of Georgia, Jeremiah Wiese of Creston, Iowa, Sharhia Wiese of Creston, Iowa, step-daughters: Mary Lou (husband Randy) Stephens of Georgia, Kathy (husband Terry) Groves of Afton, Iowa; five great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest Wiese and son, Jerry Wiese.
