Goldie Young

Goldie Elizabeth Young was born to Lydia E. (Walter) and Mervin R. Hargan on April 11, 1916 in Holt Township in Taylor County, Iowa. Goldie entered eternal rest on December 29, 2005 at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty nine years, eight months, and nineteen days.
Goldie graduated from Corning High School. She taught country school in Adams County. On June 6, 1943, Goldie Elizabeth Hargan and William Edward Young were united in marriage in Adams County, Iowa. To this union one daughter was born, Jeanette.
While in Red Oak, Goldie worked for Murphys Calendar Factory for about 10 years. Goldie worked for 19 years for Community Credit Service after moving to Creston. She volunteered her time with Green Valley Hospice and Respite Care, Greater Community Hospital Auxiliary and Creston Womens Club.
Goldie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Creston since 1959; was named BPW Woman of the year for 1990-1991; served as Historian for the BPW and was secretary for the Presbyterian Women; was active in the Mary Norton Circle and Sunday School; she was a member of the Greater Community Hospital Auxiliary and Creston Womens. Club.
Left to mourn Goldies passing are her daughter: Jeanette (husband Robert) Munzenmaier of Urbandale, Iowa: Two Grandchildren: Ann Munzenmaier, Stevens Point, Wisconsin; and Tracy (husband Michael) Rulli of Urbandale, Iowa; Sisters: Florence Knapp, Red Oak, Iowa; and Arlene Lawrence, Seattle, Washington; Sister-in-law: Helen Hargan, Shennadoah, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Goldie in death were her parents; husband in October 1974; brother: John Hargan; sister: Clara Jane Hargan (as a young girl); and brother-in-law: Edgar Knapp.
