Greg Andrews

Gregory L. Andrews, the son of Clarence Lloyd and Bertha Mae (Lovell) Andrews, was born on January 5, 1956 in Vinton, Iowa. Greg entered eternal rest on Sunday, August 24, 2008, at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Corning, Iowa at the age of fifty-two years, seven months, and twenty days.
Greg graduated from Urbana High School in 1974 and continued his education by attending the University of Iowa. In 1979, Greg received his Bachelors of Education Degree with a Coaching Endorsement. He began teaching school in Urbana following his graduation from U of I.
On June 4, 1977, Greg was united in marriage to Debra Kay Danielson, and to this blessed union, three daughters were born: Heather, Melissa and Tara.
Greg and his wife moved to Earlham and he taught school in Dexfield for a couple of years. Greg took a break from teaching and was a carpenter for several years. In 1986, Greg and Deb made Corning their home. Greg returned to teaching with the Corning Community School District, and taught math, science, introduction to computers and coached all sports, except tennis and volleyball. Greg was currently serving as Athletic Director, appointed in the spring of 2004. Greg worked as a referee for football and basketball games and as an umpire for softball games. He was also the owner of AA Outfitting, a hunting and guide service, which was truly his passion.
Greg was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church; Official Measurer for Pope Young; Iowa Athletic Directors Association; Iowa Girls High School Athletic Association; Iowa High School Athletic Association (for boys) and a member of the Adams Community Chamber of Commerce.
Greg was a devoted husband to Deb and adoring father of his daughters. Gregs accomplishments in life have inspired many of his students in this community to reach their goals. He lived his life for others and made so very many laugh. He will truly be missed by many.
Left to cherish Gregs memory is his wife, Deb Andrews, Corning, Iowa; his three daughters: Heather Andrews, Corning, Iowa, Melissa Andrews, Creston, Iowa, Tara Andrews and significant other, Josh Miller, Corning, Iowa; his granddaughters: Megan Reese and Jezabelle Wynn; five brothers: Delbert (Janet) Andrews, Strawberry Point, Iowa, Gerald (Sandy) Andrews, Eagle Grove, Iowa, Marvin (Becky) Andrews, Vinton, Iowa, Gale (Gloria) Andrews, Center Point, Iowa, Jim (Jolinda) Andrews, Urbana, Iowa; two sisters: Eva (Loren) Kisling, Marion, Iowa, Lorene Leavens, Atkins, Iowa; sister-in-law, Colleen Giebler, Hiawatha, Iowa; mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Danielson, West Point, Nebraska; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, John Danielson in 1996; brother, Loren Andrews and two nephews.
