Hadley Pauline

November 11, 1913 — June 7, 2008

Burial at Prairie Rose Cemetery.
Pauline Hadley was born on November 11, 1913 to Elzy Perry and Isibelle Louisa (Schade) Baker, on a farm SW of Corning, IA. She passed away at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital on June 7, 2008 at the age of 94.
Pauline grew up on farms and lived in the parental home built in 1913 which had no water, lights, or furnace. The family later had carbide lights, coal and wood furnace, wood burning cook stove, and a wooden ice box refrigerator. As she grew older, her responsibilities increased around the farm. Among her many farm chores were milking cows, feeding animals, gathering eggs, picking up corn cobs from the hog lot every night for the cook stove, and putting up hay.
Pauline graduated from high school and was a substitute teacher for a short time in the area. On October 9, 1935 she married Keith Hadley in Exira, IA. Two children were born to bless this union, daughters Janice in 1939 and Delores in 1943. Betty Miller came to the Hadley home to live while in high school and was considered a “daughter”. Keith passed away on March 28, 1998.
Pauline was a homemaker and also worked as an elementary school cook for 16 years. She was a member of the Fairview Church and the Eastern Star, Emblem Chapter 64, O.E.S., where she was a 50 year member.
Family was important to Pauline and she loved to be with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pauline wrote her life story, a treasured gift to her family. She spoke of her early childhood years and how they were spent in the country. She detailed many events throughout her life. Pauline looked forward to the annual Bucknor reunion in Omaha. The family would stay in a hotel, which was a thrill for her.
Pauline thought that the history of her life should be shared. For her family and generation to come, it will be. She was a wonderful woman and she will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Janice (husband Craig) Stamp, Omaha, NE, and Delores Hare, Amarillo, TX; special daughter Betty (Miller) Cooper, Bull Head City, AZ.,
and many other relatives and friends.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith Hadley; sister, Mabel Cooper; brothers: Earl and Glen Baker; grandson, Todd Stamp in 2008.
